52 Books in 52 Weeks

For 2020, I want to read 52 Books! Well not necessarily “read” more like “listen” to 52 books! I’m able to rent audio-books for free using the OverDrive App.  Anyone that lives in Illinois can as well! Once you download the app it takes a little trial and error to figure it out (not very user-friendly) but once you do figure it out, it’s easy! Some libraries will partner with the OverDrive App and then you’ll have even more options! If your library is like mine and doesn’t partner with OverDrive you can still access the State of Illinois’ digital library! All the books I’ve read thus far have been downloaded for free through this method.

My advice is to add tons of books to your Wishlist and then fill up your Holds List!  You can place 7 books on hold at a time.  I always have 7 queued up in my Holds. Some books take a few weeks to become available, others can take months! For example, I had Next Year in Havana on my holds list for 6 months…. So, it’s important to have a mixture of long/short holds on your list.  To get me started I basically added every Reese Witherspoon Book Club Book to my holds list!  Once you get this going, you’ll have books coming up for download all the time.  You can rent up to 5 books at a time and you can download and listen to them offline which is perfect for airplanes and international trips! They also have tons of books that are available for immediate download. But, for more popular books you’ll have to put them on hold!

I’m going to try and do a monthly recap on here of the books I’ve read and my thoughts on them! Stay tuned for my January Recap!
