This Is Halloween

I had children so that I could forever have people to force into doing whatever group Halloween costume I want. There, I said it!

No, but seriously Halloween is my favorite holiday.  I’ve literally always loved it! There’s just something so magical about being able to dress up like anyone you want for an entire day.  Most people refer to December as the most wonderful time of the year but in my book it’s most definitely October.

A few weeks ago I introduced Davis to Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.  It’s true, my motives were not entirely pure. I wanted Davis to fall in love with this movie and  his mama’s favorite Holiday. I’m happy to report it was a successful mission. Davis was so very excited to dress up like Jack Skellington! When we first got his costume he refused to take it off. Just kept looking at himself in the mirror and calling himself “Jack Davey!”  Then, when I put on my Sally costume he couldn’t wipe the cute little grin off his face. “Davey be Jack and Mama be Sally!”

The face Davis made when I walked out into the living room with my blue make-up and red wig on was priceless.  He was truly excited to see me dressed as Sally! He proclaimed “My turn for make-up!” That enthusiasm was a bit short lived as he quickly grew tired of me poking and prodding at his face (hence the somewhat sloppy Jack Skellington but he’s 3 so whatever) It didn’t matter much because he was ecstatic when he looked in the mirror and saw his make-up!

I went back and forth on it for a while but ultimately decided that Jude would make the cutest little Mayor.  I couldn’t wait to dress him up in a little baby suit and create the tiniest little tall top hat for him.  Thanks to a hot glue gun, printer and some dollar store supplies I was able to create the perfect Mayor of Halloween Town costume!

Now for Gabe’s costume.  I mean, who doesn’t want to see their husband in a bald cap? Dr. Finkelstein it is! You guys, Gabe is such a good sport. He didn’t bat an eye when I asked him to be the creepiest looking mad scientist Doctor! In fact, I think he secretly loved it.  I was a little worried he may scare our children but they were just fine.  I’m so lucky to have married someone that puts up with my Halloween obsession.

I hope you had an amazing Halloween filled with tons of laughter, candy and a few spooks!
