Montmorency Falls

Don’t leave the Quebec City area before checking out Montmorency Falls.  Located just 15 minutes outside of Quebec City, you’ll find this gorgeous natural site. At 272 feet, the Falls are 30 feet higher than Niagara Falls (who knew!)

There are several ways to take in the falls. For a fee, you can take a cable car from the base to the top.  If you’re feeling up for a hike you can take a set of stairs up to the top.  Or the third option which is what we chose is driving to the top! Yes, you can drive and park right at the top of the falls.  To get there simply put Le Manoir Montmorency into your GPS. If you’re traveling with a baby I definitely recommend wearing them in a carrier as it’s not exactly a stroller friendly activity!

I’d say the highlight of the morning was walking across the suspension bridge.  Pause for a moment, look down and see the water raging below you.  It is truly an incredible feeling to see, hear and almost feel the water rushing beneath you. If you’re feeling extra daring you can take a zip line right across the falls! We would have done this (we had plans to go one at a time while the other stays with the baby) but sadly it was closed on the day we were visiting due to wind.

If you park at the top of the Falls I’d say an hour or two is plenty of time to explore the area.  They do have picnic tables set up if you’d like to bring a little picnic. I’d definitely recommend taking the time to get out of the city and enjoy a little bit of Canadian wildlife!
