Hey Jude’s One

So, what does one do when your baby celebrates his first birthday in Quarantine? Plan an extravagant photo shoot? Why not! Nothing but time on our hands right now.  I’m so excited to share these photos with you!

We were planning a huge Beatles themed birthday party for Jude before the lockdown so I had most of the materials already on hand. Anything else I was able to pick up at the store while I was buying groceries and I made good use of items from around the house!

Without further ado, I bring you 5 Beatles Themed 1st Birthday Shoots!

Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

To be honest, this costume is what sparked the idea for a Beatles themed shoot! I saw this DIY no sew costume on Pinterest and knew I had to give it a go. I’m happy to report it was incredibly easy and took less than 30 minutes to put together! Luckily, I already bought the rope, tassels, fabric tape and white electrical tape from Hobby Lobby before we went into lockdown. If you want to see how its made click here.

Let it Be

No Beatles shoot would be complete without some John Lennon glasses!  The Let It Be shirt was part of a 5-pack from Amazon!  When I was still planning a large party for Jude I created this hula hoop floral peace sign.  It was very easy and inexpensive to make using materials from Dollar Tree. It’s just a hula hoop, ribbon to create the center line, a hot glue gun and tons of faux flowers! His cute little mini guitar is also from Dollar Tree.

A Hard Day’s Night

We weren’t really planning on doing this shoot but I liked Jude’s shirt so I thought I’d get creative with what I had around the house. I love the way this rainbow scarf backdrop turned out! Sure they could have used a steam but OH WELL! Of course this ended up being Jude’s favorite set-up as he got a kick out of playing with the scarves.  Which in turn was kind of perfect because his naughty nature went well with his Hard Day’s Night shirt.

Beatles #1 Album

This look was inspired by the Beatles # 1 Hits Album Cover which was also what inspired Jude’s birthday invitation which I’ve included below! This was such a fun and easy set-up. I just used two red plastic Dollar Tree table clothes, a yellow onesie and white electrical tape to create the number 1. We added in the “Hey Jude’s” in photoshop.

We All Live in a Yellow Submarine

I had planned on using this submarine as decor for Jude’s big party but since that wasn’t happening I thought why not set it up for the boys at home! I found this giant cardboard submarine kit at Michaels a few months ago for only $9.99.  I painted it the iconic yellow and red with poster board paint from Dollar Tree.  Please note I painted this at midnight the night before and really didn’t give two shits that it wasn’t a perfect paint job…. the boys could care less and we’ve since let them color/stamp/sticker all over it!

And that’s a wrap on Jude’s 1st birthday photo shoot! I really had so much fun putting it all together.  Planning this and his party (for our little family of four) has truly kept me busy and sane these past few weeks in Quarantine.  I love that we were able to create these fun memories and photos in our own home and will cherish them for years to come!
