Loch Ness Country House is the perfect location to start your tour of the Highlands. Located just a few miles from the center of Inverness on 6 acres of beautiful gardens and land. It’s also very near the northern end of Loch Ness (hence the name!) As you pull up you’re immediately in awe of the gorgeous exterior. It’s a Georgian style home with beautiful ivy creeping up the entrance. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room.

The grounds of this hotel are absolutely breathtaking. Stunning gardens, perfectly manicured lush green grass, surrounded by wild forest. Perhaps the best part of this property are the sheep grazing in the back. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure if this is a part of the hotel or separate but there is a walking path from the hotel down to where the sheep are located (so that means they want you to go check them out right?!?!) We must have spent an hour or two just walking around the property with Davis admiring the different flowers, trees, animals & pretty walking paths. I can’t even begin to describe the feeling of happiness I had being there. We had just arrived in Scotland and I couldn’t wait to spend the remainder of the week in this magical country!

After lots of walking and a long day of travel we decided to kick back in our hotel room and order room service. The food was just ok but it was delivered hot and quickly to our room which was what mattered most to us at that point! Plus french fries are pretty delicious no matter what (evidenced by Davis promptly stealing them all!) As an added bonus each room has a TV with a DVD player and movies you can rent for free from the front desk! This was especially awesome for Davis since they had some great kid’s movies! It was the perfect way to end our first day exploring Scotland.

We woke up bright and early sad to leave the Loch Ness Country House but excited to head towards Isle of Skye. Before departure we headed downstairs to the main restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant is gorgeously decorated with scenic views of the garden. Breakfast is included in your stay and it does not disappoint! There is a lovely buffet of pastries, baked goods, fresh fruit, juices and you are also able to order specialty items off the menu. I ordered the regular eggs benedict which was killer! I’m obsessed with the type of bacon they have in the UK! Gabe ordered a salmon benedict which he also loved.

I highly recommend staying at the Loch Ness Country House when starting your journey through Scotland! The grounds are stunning, the hotel is old world beautiful, staff friendly & the breakfast delicious! I also found the pricing to be pretty reasonable for the area. Although I was a little disappointed with Inverness, I know this area is a wonderful starting point to explore the Highlands. Hope you enjoy your time at Loch Ness Country House Hotel as much as we did!
