Who knew you could find a piece of Italy right in the heart of Mykonos! I certainly hadn’t heard of Little Venice before we started planning our trip. One of the most popular areas to visit in Mykonos is this strip of old buildings that hang right over the water. These 18thcentury fishing houses were once owned by rich merchants which gave them easy access to the water routes.
This charming area is filled with bars and restaurants. It’s the perfect place to stop for an afternoon coffee or a romantic dinner as the sun sets. Between the gorgeous views of the sea and the famous windmills in the background Little Venice is a wonderful place to take photos.

This area is pretty peaceful in the morning, you’ll have your pick of tables’ right on the waterfront. If you’re interested in dining here for dinner I’d recommend a reservation. Little Venice gets very crowded around sunset and all the best tables right on the water have “Reserved” signs. It’s a wonderful place to watch the sunset as it disappears into the sea right before your eyes. The sky is the illuminated in all sorts of beautiful shades of orange, yellow and red.

We chose to stop for a drink at Bao’s Cocktail Bar. I looked up Bao’s in advance and knew I wanted to stop there but we lucked out since we were walking past literally right as they were opening for the evening. Gabe and I grabbed a table right on the water and sipped our delicious drinks as the sun went down.

For dinner, we decided on Niko’s Taverna in Mykonos Town. I’d heard good things about this spot and was excited for some Italian food! Unfortunately, this was our least favorite meal of the trip. The atmosphere is nice (love the red checkered table clothes) but the food was subpar. I guess that’s what we get for not eating Greek food in Greece?

Loved this fun red and white polka dot top from Target + it’s a steal at under $17!

Anyways, a trip to Mykonos would not be complete without a visit to Little Venice! Head there in the morning for an espresso with a view. Or for a little hustle and bustle walk over for a cocktail around sunset. The restaurants aren’t the highest quality food but this area is all about the atmosphere!
