On our third day in Santorini we wanted to get out and explore a new part of the Island. After a bit of research we decided Kamari Beach would be our destination. Our hotel organized a rental car company to come drop off a car for us for the day! Originally I had wanted to book an ATV since I’d read that was the most fun way to get around the Island but Gabe decided that was a bad idea since they tend to be a bit dangerous-and our hotel concierge agreed. So instead we rented a car-which I highly recommend!
Renting a car for 24 hours cost less than €40. I was shocked at how inexpensive it was and to be honest kind of kicked myself for not renting one sooner in the trip (we would have saved money based on all the cabs we had taken!) Plus there is a shocking amount of parking in Santorini with the exception of the heart of Oia.

The drive to Kamari beach was beautiful. We wound in and out of small towns, through the mountains, passed vineyards and so many pretty little churches. Once we reached Kamari I was pleasantly surprised at how cute the area was! The little streets are lined with touristy shops and restaurants. After the short walk to the beach we decided to spend the day at one of the many beach clubs on Kamari. The lounge chairs were free so long as you ordered something, which we did! Don’t hate me-I can’t remember the name of the restaurant!
A few fun beach drinks later and we were ready for a dip. It’s true the Sea is still pretty cold in May but to be honest it was still probably warmer than Lake Michigan gets in August! One of the prettiest things about this beach is also one of it’s downfalls-the pebbles. The pebbles get very very hot and hurt your feet. You cannot go for a stroll along the beach barefoot-you can’t even really walk from your lounge chair to the sea without shoes that’s how hot the stones get. But man is it beautiful! I loved the unique look of this beach. My favorite part was the mountain that runs along the end of it-simply stunning.

I love this bathing suit from Target! I’m crushing on all things lemon print right now. I know some women my “size” may shy away from getting their picture taken on the beach in their bathing suit but you know what you only live once. Life is too short to hide from the camera. I will probably only be on Kamari Beach once and I want to remember this moment (and how much I loved this lemon print bathing suit.) So put aside your fears and get in that picture ladies!
(yes, the above picture is me killing my feet on the pebbles lol)

Overall we had a wonderful day at Kamari Beach! I definitely recommend checking it out for anyone looking for a little relaxation in the sun. Just don’t forget water shoes or sandals that you can slip on and off once you reach the sea!
